Purchased Templates but need help

So here is the deal I recently was given the photoshop program from a friend who bought it with a video editor for like $1000 adn didnt need the photoshop..Im not really sure which one it is or how many they have as i am still very new to photoshop all around. Well saturday I am doing a photoshop of a baby for birth announcments and due to me not being so advanced and not knowing how to do somethings i resorted to buying some birth announcment templates already made......but I can not figure out how to make my picture fit in the same size as the one in the template....what so i do, i can get it onto the page but its the wrong size and everytime i go to image resize it resizes teh entire thing templat and all.....I need help....Any hwlp is appreciated

Hmmm...I'm no pro...so I don't know the "lingo"...but here goes..if you reduce the screen size in PS so you can see your original picture and the template on your screen, all you have to do is click and drag from the layers palet of the picture, to the template. Then click EDIT, FREE TRANSPOSE and you will get the tabs, then you can resize as needed.
