Epson Printers and Clogged Heads:

Do Epsons only clog with compatible cartridges?
Or do these printers suffer from this even when originals are used?

Any comments from both compatible and original users?

Cheers...

Even with the original inks.

I was told by Epson that I wasn't using the printer enough. I started using it more frequently (daily for a month), but it would even clog in the middle of a print job when the first prints came out fine.

:x

Next printer will be a Canon.

It's a good idea to print a sheet once a week. But some people still experience clogging. I personally have not as long as I print a sheet on a regular basis.

Mine now sits on a shelf unused because it clogs ALL THE TIME, I can start a print run and it will clog in the middle of it. The amount of ink used to try and purge the heads makes this the most expensive printer in the world.

NB Only ever used genuine Epson inks

Which models of Epson printer are you having clogging troubles with?

My ancient 1270 keeps humming along, but then I use $150 worth of Epson ink in it every three months.

Also, and I can't prove this, but my theory is that there is a difference based on what kind of paper you use. There are different amounts of fiber that comes up off the paper, and that mixes with ink to form a clog.

I use about 80% Epson Premium Luster Photo Paper, and about 20% Epson Photo Paper.

I turn the printer on every week if I am not printing that week as it does a mini clean, I have never had a clogged head, I only use the ultrchrome pigment inks.

My 1270 clogs if I don't use it for a few weeks. I use only Epson inks and papers. Works great as long as I print fairly often -- but once it clogs, it is the devil to get working again!

I had the problem with my Lexmark, as have all my friends with their Lexmarks and Epsons. This usually results in white lines.
I too was told that I should print of something atleast once a week to keep things flowing.

Well, last fall I bought a Canon i450 and it is awesome. I've NEVER seen the white line problem, and I have gone as long as 1 month without printing. Two of my friends also changed to Canon printers, and their white line problems disappeard too. Not sure what Canon does differently, but it works.

What Epson model(s) have this problem? I've had two epson printers that frequently had paper jams but never had ink clogs. I currently have two HP's, which are trouble free, but am considering the Epson 2200 based on a multitude of positive reviews.

the 2200 is great
i got rid of the less expensize clogging printers
one was a 785 epx
i think the other was a 870 or 890 or something like that
the cheaper ones worked fine if used every day but clogged with lack of ose

you can not go wrong with a 2200
i have been getting ink carts fro
www.thenerds.net for 8.51
stay away from generic ink
epson paper works best however i havbeen using office depot premium high gloss 69lb 260 g/m with good success 44.00 per hundredthe thinner papers cause roller marks
