Wow Gary that MIII is paying off! The first shot is killer with X-Factor (I hope you submitted that one). The second shot of Adam Ellis with the floating ballls is my kinda shot I love those. Federof of Legion is my favorite player by far to shoot. Ghetto Smurfs probably one of the best paintball team names in a long time.....I did not know smurfs could fly(great timing on that shot and the focus is just wow)! The last shot of the Impact player and his flame thrower is great, getting a player getting shot out is not that hard when compairing it to getting a barrel break. I look forward to seeing your stuff in the magazine for this event.

See you tomorrow Gary,

Michael

Hehehe, no Gary, YOU should buy it! You can do so much more with it than I could ... just look here for examples! I will pick up a couple 1D MIIIs in the Fall. Any way, the camper is packed and I will be leaving for the field in a couple of hours and see you in the morning!

Oh, how did so many balls get in the air at once in that second image?

chrono300

the balls are spilling out of the hopper or they came from the pod he just filled.

The player is using something called a speed feed that enable them to dump a pod of paint in to their hopper with out opening a hopped lid. It tends to leak paintball if the player rapidly flips his gun around…I really like speed feeds because they tend to leak paintballs combined with a mirrored lens I am sure this one will get published…

IMO the highest compliment one can receive is from a peer and colleague…Thanks Michael. BTW the 1D Mark III does not have any focus problems with objects moving toward the camera as the thread in the Canon EOS digital cameras section

Wow that last series you posted of the ghetto smurfs animated is pretty impressive. I spent almost the whole weekend and he did that run almost every game, and to see the difference between mine and yours(as far as speed goes) is kinda cool. Maybe ill put mine together and post it for comparison!

I just got back from the Spyder Tournament at Hollywood Sports Park, a two day event at which I shot for PaintballPhotography.com, Gary Baum. I'll start or join a thread in a bit. First, I need to say that Gary is totally insane, fearless or stupid (take your pick), and impossible not to love. He is an indefatigable [see http://www.wordreference.com/definition/indefatigable] human being whose life is a constant "rush" and who will share anything and everything with others, without limit. Not only did he extend himself to me, an old fart of no merit, but to several other experienced and brand new photographers, giving them advice and contacts that will give them a chance to succeed. And that's just my opinion ... the opinion of others who know him much better than I was that he is easily crazier than I can imagine and much more talented. So, although I am really rather ho-hum about shooting paintball, I am extremely likely to "dabble" in association with PaintballPhotography.com because I won't give up the opportunity to work with someone as life enhancing and caring (and interesting, but I won't go into that here!) as Gary. GARY ... THANK YOU, MY FRIEND!

Oh, and I also met Chrono300 who is a really stand up guy and gave me a guided tour of what to look for and why this tournament was so very difficult to shoot. Michael, thank you, too, buddy!

And One-Eyed-Jack (Chris) who is just a neat young man who never made it out to my truck/camper for a beer!

After your tutlege on Sunday I took a whole different approach and have one really amazing sequence, worthy of Gary, that I didn't know I had until late last night after downloading and reviewing everything. As soon as I have time I will join/start a thread on this tournament. Anyway, I cannot thank you enough for walking me through ... yes, it is much more interesting photographing the losers than the winners! :-)

With no one ball to follow I can see where it can be tough at first. I am sure any sport takes practice to shoot correctly (I practice almost every weekend). In paintball the action is always easier to shoot on the side where the teams is about to loose. When there is very little running and sliding like in this three man format it can get very boring for the photographers at times and the time between games feels like hours. But I gotta say Dwight looked like a little kid in the candy store come the second day with that big smile (until he took a paintball where no man wants to get hit that is!).

I thought you had a picture of me all bent over holding the family jewels and whining like a stuck pig? Not sharing or are you going to start a new thread with it?

I'll try to get a thread started tonight.

I have a ton of magazine sorting before I can post pictures. I can not post stuff that I submit so you will see the leftovers as usual.....Did I just hijack yet another paintball thread???

This is NOT PBNation ... we don't ban people here for sharing when the general topic is related to the photographic genre in question even if their images are dramatically better than our own. So, if I start a thread please feel free to simply stuff your leftovers in it!

Actually, I thought I was fine and then those waves of double-over pain hit me ... I just bent over and held on ... THEN they said, "Oh, you should wear a cup!" I was bent over for about five minutes ... at my age I was surprised there was enough there to be hit!:lol::lol: Still expect that Chrono300 will have an image of this event to share!
