View Full Version : Reformatted SanDisk. Help!!!

I was playing with my moms Cannon Powershot SD550 and accidentally re-formatted the SanDisk card. I erased a bunch of vacation photos from a trip to California, and I've been unable to retrieve them. I've tried the following programs with no success:
LC Technology - Photo Recovery
Pro Soft - Data Rescue II
Stellar - Phoenix Photo Recovery
Mac Update - Card Raider 1.2
It finds photos from over a year ago, but it won't find my recent vacation photos. Is there a program that I should be using instead? I'm on a Macintosh OS operating system. I'm pulling my hair out trying to find these photos. I'm even willing to pay for the service if someone can make a recommendation. I just don't want to pay someone to find the same 300 old photos that I keep finding. Please help if you have any information.

DiskInternals does not work with Macintosh.

Have you got a tool on the Mac that will dump a binary image of the card to a file?
If you get a disc image then you can experiment on a copy of the card without distroying the original data.

I've got a C program I wrote that will scan a disc image for JPG or CRW files, and dump them out. If you've got a C compiler I can let you have a copy.

I'm pretty computer savy, but not when it come to photos and binary images. It makes sense what your saying, but I have no idea how to dump a binary image, or if I even can on a Mac.

Sandisk has their own recovery software. It ships with some of their cards, and might be available on their website.

It saved my butt once.

SanDisk's recovery software is the "LC Technology - Photo Recovery" software I spoke of above. Like I aslo said above, it found some really old stuff, but nothing recent.

You need to find a friend with a PC and a CF reader...
