I would like to know also. Looks like it was shot with a tilt-shift lens.

Very cool photo by the way! :)

I bet it'd look weird with people. But yeah, post them when you finish them.

episodic: I don't have a link, but I'm sure you can find a tutorial. Basically, duplicate the layer; create a lens blur; create a gradient mask to mask out the blurring along a small band in the middle. Add contrast, etc. to taste.

I love these photos

A tip:

When you duplicate the layer and blur it then mask it out you are left with remnants of unblurred parts(halos) in the middle of the transition like in this photo. Almost like a diffuse glow effect.

To avoid this you need to create a mask and do your gradient there. Then use the Filter>blur>lense blur dialogue and set the source to layer mask. Then apply and delete/turn off the mask from the layer. This will give you a more natural blur.

Also if you are going to leave certain parts unblurred for realism...go ahead and cut them out first thing and do a seperate blur or paste them on top. this will let you avoid the halo effect also.
