This is a little off topic, but I was hoping that someone could help.

I would like to get my images ready for the web, and will likely put them on PBase. The images that I am preparing are mostly large TIFs that I have been using for printing. Is there a quick way to size them and prepare them for the web? I don't know how to use Photoshop actions, and I'm not sure a batch method would work since they vary alot in size. Right now I am planning to open them one at a time in Photoshop CS, resize them. and then save the files as JPGs.

Is there a smarter way to go about this? Thanks.

Penguin,

I've downloaded and installed the program, but when I go to the Start menu it only leads to the readme file. I did a search of the hard disk, and the only three files referring to PowerToys are the install, a readme, and a file that I can't open. The readme didn't give a clue about what to do from here. Do you know what I have to do to open the program? Thanks.

It isn't a program it is just a feautre. All you need to do is right click on the picture and there should be something called resize.Click on that and you can pick the size you want. I think it will make a copy in the new size.

It will not change the size for ever. I was wrong it will just make a copy. Make sure change orginal pic is NOT selected in the advanced area.

With ACDsee you can select a folder of images and resize them either to a specific height.. or a specific width... no matter what size they were to begin with.

I do this AFTER I copy the images.. so that I am not resizing the orginals.

However.. ACDsee will either resize the originals OR output renamed copies at the new size.. which ever you prefer..

In Photoshop CS, file->automate->Web Photo Gallery allows you to choose the size of the thumbnail and the size of the large picture. You can set it to resize the original to the sizes you choose. You just have to make sure all the originals are in the correct orientation, though you really should also set the color Profile to sRGB.

I use CompuPic Pro (http://www.photodex.com/products/compupicpro/). I put my finished Tiff's in a folder select all files then CompuPic batch processess all photos. It creates a new file, resizes, sharpens and inserts my name in the lower corner with the touch of a button. It is also a great image viewer and organizer.
