I plan on going to this even tomarrow morning to try to get some good shots. If anyone has any experience with either this event or similar events on where I should set up please let me know. I will post my results from this event probably either late tomarrow or monday. Thank you in advance for your help.

I can't help you with your questions, but just wanted to say that I had my first ever visit to the USA a few weeks ago, and it was to Philadelphia. I had a great time - it's a very nice city.

My pics from the trip are here http://www.pbase.com/calis/philadelphia

those are some great shots of Philly, I lived in that city for 7 years, and I love to see different peoples views of it.

Thanks, they're a bit restricted in scope as I was at a conference in the Hyatt Hotell Penn's Landing and was busy most of the time. I took them mostly on early morning walks, so they are all in the same area.

I've been on the seat during cycling races, then walked the courses watching. I didn't see any information on this particular event, so can't give you information on specifics. But here's some hints.

Move around the course....it will have an uphill which gives you a great chance to shoot cyclist moving slower with grimacing faces and beads of sweat. This will also be the place that separates the front runners from the also rans.

Dowhills will give you good motion shots...curves great views of the cyclists leaning in. Keep the sun to your back...move from the inside to the outside of the turns as appropriate.

Try not to shoot standing up...go low or get high for different perspective.

Have fun....

Kinger,
Here is a link to the Pro Cycling Tour-Philly page:

I plan on going to the event too. I am going to Manyunk hopefully to "The Wall". I figure the riders will be pretty beat climbing the wall and the shots will be somewhat easier to get. Someone who has seen the event said they totally fly on the bikes on the downhills and straightaways. I plan on riding the train into Manyunk. The streets are shut down. If you plan on going to the "Start/Finish Line" you will have to ride the train into Penn Center Station on 15th Street. The course is 156 miles long. I would try to get into some of the less popular parts of the race course to shoot. Good Luck.

I don't think I will be at "The Wall" it is usually way too crowded. So for my thinking was either by the start/finish line to get that victory sprint in, or to set up shop on one of the small up hills in the park around strawberry mansion.

That could work too, then I could make my way over to the finish line closer to the end of the race. Well if you find manayunk too crowded come on by.
