Here are some more shots from Estes Park last weekend. I like the last two as you can see their tongues sticking out.

So that's where all the hummies went ... to your place to drink that special stuff you give em. Speaking of which, what the heck do you put in that water mixture?

1/4 sugar, 3/4 water. Boiling the water helps to keep down mold which will grow after 4 or 5 days in unboiled water. Never , ever use honey. Honey has been shown to cause cancer in hummingbird beaks. What a terrible thing to do.
I always mix too much and it goes to waste. Unless you have a flock of them, a half cup of mix will last them a week and some of it will still be wasted.

No, the feeder is red and that's all that's needed to attract them. :)

There is some discussion regarding the food color, that it could also be cancer causing. I had never heard of honey causing cancer, but it does cause a bacterial reaction in the digestive tract. Just like you should never give babies honey, they cannot digest it. After all honey IS bee spit!!
