Short and simple, this is a few of the things I like here:

Great, fantastic and humoristic photos shared.

The combined knowledge of all the users.

The great humor .

There are no flaming going on like on DP.

being new, no one has yelled at me for being a "n00b" to photography. Everyone has been nice as can be, and willing to help others learn.

I agree with all what people said. However i noticed the traffic here, unfortunately, is not very high. As great as this forum is, it needs more traffic to increase the knowledge base.

See my earlier thread: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34042

I disagree on that. It can also get too much traffic so You can't keep up. Here the pace is just about right. In busy hours the traffic on DP is too high and combined with the poor forum software there oI simply stops reading topics when it hits 30-40 posts. That won't happen here because it is displayed better but if there were more traffic it could also become a problem here.

I agree with you about DP, sometimes it's too much and as you said, the s/w is really ancient. But i still think this forum could use a bit more traffic IMO.

This forum is great, don't get me wrong.

I like the demeanor of most of the users, and the golden tidbits of information scattered throughout various threads. Everyone seems to have a great sense of humor too, some people are even funny.......

My favourite part is the relaxed atmosphere. I'm very new, but it seems like people can criticise each others work openly and constructively with no offence. I explored a couple of other boards before I stumbled across this one, which has definitely turned out to be the best.

As for my contribution, I intend to bring terrible jokes and gratuitous use of similes 8) 8) 8)

I decided this forum was a great way to make several thousand new friends without having to buy any of them drinks.

Well I definitely like the people here - maturity, humor, knowledge, and the attitudes. I lurk and use several other photo boards but I'm still here 10 times as much as the others combined.

Well, to echo what everyone else is saying...

pictures aside, the knowledge base found within this forum is wonderful. Have a problem, need a hint or three, post a thread and you will get a response. No, you won't get overwhelmed with responses sometimes, but that seems to be because people only comment when they have something of substance to reply with. While this is a bit different with the share photos area (but that is to be expected and necessary)

I have yet to see someone post "Ugh, that is a terrible picture, what the hell were you thinking." People around here try to find something constructive to say and not just "Come back when you have more experience under your belt."

Makes me feel welcome and I return far more then my work would like ;) .

As mentioned many times before... friendly, funny, very knoledgeable people.
I am a member on some other forums as well, but over there people are not as friendly and as open as here... I'm scared to post sometimes. From the very first post up until now, I have had only good experiences on this forum, and learn a lot.

I'm on this forum every day, at work, home, anywhere with internet access. Many thanks to Pekka and CDS who manage this forum and keep it the way it is.

Apart from everything else that was stated ...

... if I ever have the need to part with a disproportionate amount of my hard-earned money and don't know how to do that, there sure will be a lot of inspiration in this forum

Best regards,
Andy

This place is like a good watering hole you can come and hang out at. The traffic is slow. The old timers pretty much all know each other. We share photos, laugh at each other, make fun of each other, and we go out and take more photos. Most arguments are kept civil. We have two very good moderators (Pekka and CyberDyneSystems) who keep us in line. And most important, the community as a whole has evolved into something very significant and useful to one's life.

I have learned more here on this forum than any other place, book, or club about photography.

I have friends here.
