like the effect u created here - the fence in the front really detracts though imo

I disagree. I think the fence gives it a nice "outside looking in" perspective.

Very nice, I love the PP work.

Nice colors. I really like the arrangement of the large blocks/shapes - the fence, the shed, the house and the trees behind.

I like the foreground fence, and the gutter on the shed, driving my eye into the scene.

However, once I am taken into the picture, I'm stopped at the house. It's flat, and closed. Give me something to settle on - a door or window ajar, a curtain tucked back. The curved hedge on the right and the yellow grass make me want to go around the corner, the rising tree line takes me farther to the right side, and I end up coming back to the bird feeder on the shed. Maybe that's what you wanted...

many thanks kobus

I know what you mean but the big shed there kindof takes from the cottage anyway and it can't be shown at its best
( why the post title)

thats what I thought too, under the circumstances. ie.. ugly shed blocking view inside and from out. the owners mustn't have the space to put the shed anywhere else , at back. the cottage is close to a fast running river and the ground maybe goes lower at rear

thanks pepsi

its a very difficult house to photograph. its by a river and always seems slanted as though the earth is leaning down towards the river
the bird feeder always catches my eye . there were about six blue tits hanging around there that day but with the colour of the shed they blended in too much and never looked great

I often tried to capture the cottage in a picture but the shed always loomed right there and upfront. there was no other way to photograph the scene
I thought the shed spoilt the cottage appearance. the gate I loved.
I actually have the gate bigger in the original picture but I cropped some off to show it like that . I was going to name it 'the gate to the cottage' but guessed it would not appeal seeing as how the cottage was not really at its best I decided nothing was really right.
wooden gates in front of a cottage appeal to me . I then decided the whole cottage ( as best as possible) was worth a look (photograph) as I like it very much everytime I pass by

thanks again all

Wonderful, looks so peaceful and inviting, would make a great story book illustration.

Urgh this is one of those images which annoys me. I hate it, then love it, hate it, then love it again.

I'll go with liking it for now!

looks suitable for what you say even more so in this shot from a distance
I took it about four years ago

never can get the house looking ok, but it does look nice in reality
the story book effect suits it best I think, a coincidence you mentioned it.

thats the river looking like ' moon walk ' in front of the couple
a flying saucer has just landed:eek:

the rays of which are reflecting off their shocked faces while lighting up the electrifying atmosphere
