I was just thinking about the AB Radio flash triggers and I was wonder if anyone knows wether the transmitter for them will trigger off the v2 cactus remote for a 430/580ex.

Because then I could trigger the AB's + my 430EX wirelessly.

Does anyone do this or anything similar?

Very unlikely the AB radio slave and the so called "Cactus" radio slaves will communicate harmoniously.

I asked because the transmitters look almost identical, but then again its all about the insides and what kind of frequency it transmits. Anyone know if they are the same frequency?

It is more than just the frequency that they transmit on. The signal is said to be "digital" (I cannot confirm this). If this is accurate the devices could be transmitting at the exact same frequency, yet the nature of the digital coding would inhibit compatibility.
