These are from my little town's 4th of July parade today. I'm trying to stretch from my comfort zone of automotive shooting, so please please please be harsh. I know I have to work on backgrounds, and really need to start playing with a ND filter. But these are the few out of the whole bunch that I thought were decent.

The first should have been shot with a higher number f-stop and the second with a smaller number f-stop.
3rd and 4th are pretty good.

I can't fault them (Maybe it's a Nikon thing :P) Great work.
I like the Automotive style panning skills on #1!

No real comments the shots are pretty good. But I have a serious question for you.... what's it like being from the future?

The last photo in this series is absolutely top drawer stuff IMO! I really like it because the the driver is in the shadows and the kid in the back has a look in his eyes that makes you wonder what he's thinking or looking at! I liked your others too btw! Thank you for sharing! ;-)

Some fascinating expressions on the faces of the participants. I like your pictures.

1 and 2 could do with a slightly faster shutter speed as theres a bit of motion blu. Of course if you intended it then cool but for me its not cool. 3 looks a little cold. 4 is great as already mentioned. I am nit picking but you did ask for comments :-)

I like #4 the best in this bunch. Good focus, a nice background, and a good expression on the child. There's nothing about it that really says "parade", but I don't think that's a bad thing.
Parades are honestly about the toughest thing I've ever tried to shoot. Moving targets coming toward you, crappy backgrounds, hit-or-miss lighting, people looking the other way. If you get a few really nice keepers you're doing good.
One thing I did this year was to stand at the very end of the parade route, where they turned the corner to exit. I got right out in the middle of the street so I could get people looking straight at me. Some even stopped and posed. The cops were standing all around but they didn't bother me. Sometimes when you have a big camera and you act like you're on a mission, people assume you belong there. ;)
For the 4th of July, it can be just as interesting to wander through the crowd and shoot some of the spectators. The first four shots in this post (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=342770) were all parade watchers.

Interesting. I was rushing to meet my family on the parade route, and had to work my way through the staging area where all the floats were getting lined up. That would have been a great place to take pics, but I just didn't have time...
