Hi! First posting in this section, here are a couple of shots from Saturday's action at Hickstead. All shot with Canon 400d, 70-300 lens. The weather was pretty grim and I was juggling the camera and a golf umbrella to try and keep dry  C&C welcome.

Light rain constantly :( would have liked to move around the outside of the ring to get some different angles but had to stay where I could balance the brolly to keep dry

Thanks for the comment :)

Nice shots. :) Don't suppose you got any of Geoff Billington (the winner)? Or of the girl who's horse reared after refusing the double?

Different day I'm afraid, I was there on Speed Derby day (Saturday)

Thanks for commenting:D

I love all three shots. The first is a great timing capture of the horse at the apex of its jump. Shows the pure athletism of this fine animal. The second shot has two things that I like. I like the stance of the horse and I like the guy with the shovel in the left background. And the third makes it look as thoug h the horse is dancing. All three make me feel good. Thanks for posting!

Thank you for those comments, that's pretty much what I thought of them and why I chose to post those particular shots.

The people in the background of shot #2 were soaking wet 'cos it rained the whole way through the event and I thought it made a nice contrast to horse & rider.

I agree with Zippy - the guy with the shovel really sums up the feeling. I like the expression of determination on that riders face too. Good on you for braving the weather.
