Whats the subject in the first one?
2nd one is sorta more of the same, the steps are kinda kewl but its a weird way to shoot them, the sidewalk is boring, the flowers looks like they might be nice but hard too tell.
Whats the story you are tyring to tell?

the first one. when i took it the subject was suposed to be the wall but now i dunno, i just liked the way it looked, the second shot the subject was pretty much the steps. there is no real story.

Not to Hijack this thread but I did a similar pic of a wall (See below), I know what you mean by liking the way it looked..

i prefer the second to the first.
maybe the first could do with a bit of creative cropping?
the top right of the second photo has a distracting blown highlight though...maybe work on that as well.

i tried cropping that out and thought it brought the flowers too close to the top, its the sky BTW. That usualy hapens in my shots here cause there's never any clouds, the sky is just dull.

The white balance and exposure seem to be off. Here is what I think a corrected image would look like.

I like number one and think that it has great potential. I look at it like this:
If you moved to the left about a foot and kept the same focal point while stopping down the aperture, you would have a totally different result of the shot. I think that it would have placed more of the detail of all the stone in the picture while allowing you to have the flower in focus as well. My take on it.
Number two just does not do anything for me.
