Don't worry Mike...this was the best I got today. Can't ask for a better white balance in a shot and I know it's in focus, no blown highlights or anything.

I like the first one, but it feels too cramped at the bottom - even if the toe isn't cut off, it looks like it could be. The second shot, for me, would be improved, if the bride were further to the left of the frame. That way, the house wouldn't be behind, her, and there would be much more space for her to look into. Other than those framing issues, I really like the concept of the shots, and I think they work well.

ItsMike, the first looks like it could do with a little fill light on her face and also into the shoe to lift the strong shadow within the shoe. Flash might be a bit tricky unless you've got loads of the little things set up wirelessly on stands etc.. but reflectors may have helped for both her face and the shoe..

The second one would be quite nice, were it not for the house plumped smack bang behind her. I think I would have tried to frame to lose the house altogether and stick with nature's own background. She is also a bit too centralised in the frame and could do with some more space in front of her. The clouds look slightly blown but I'm not over-fussed by that. However, the back of her dress looks completely blown so I guess a little more fill flash and a little less ambient light would have been good. Maybe you can tweak if you shot raw to pull back some cloud/dress detail.

It's very easy to spot these things from the comfort of one's armchair but a lot easier to overlook when out in the field (in my experience anyway) so not a bad job really, just a few little tweaks to get it spot on.

achristian, it looks like you've found a really nice spot there and it's a great position for this photo. I think you had quite a challenge, lighting wise, with the reflection off the leaves, burning them out. I don't know how easy it would have been to deal with that. The light on her is very soft and easy on the eye so good job there. I think the angle you have her posed at in relation to the camera is just about perfect but I feel I'd like to see just a little more of your subject and a little less of the leaves obscuring her on the left of the picture.

Having said all the above, the more I go back to look at the picture the more I like it so that's got to be a big plus point :)

Just one more thing - the picture is a bit small but it does look like her eyes are closed or almost closed. This may be on purpose to convey a sense of calm and peace or may just be a question of timing the shot. It would be nice to see alternative shots with her eyes fully open as well, especially if they're blue ;)

Thanks for the compliments. I may have another that allows more of her body to be shown on the left side. I did have shots with the eyes open, however, I liked it with her eyes closed like this shot. I was definitely going for a relaxed look on the shot. I will see what others I have and like and post it.

Yeah, there were a few there that were from LI. Three that I know of. We all also work together. We are looking at doing a sort of photo session somewhere soon with some photographers from LI. Feel free to drop ItsMike or me a line and we will see what we can get together before the summer ends.

Itsmike (I think this is your thread?) #1 looks like an advertisement for shoes. And her face is quite dark.

#2 is too centered and a perfect opportunity to put her off to the left of the frame. Great color and exposure.

achristian - you've got one nice clean sensor there.... Nice work.

chuckw - you've got a great setting for pictures and a very pretty lady. Dump the male model.

Yeah, I guess it was Mike's thread to begin with but Charlie and I took over. We were all there together having a great time and learning a little in the process. Thanks for the compliment on the pic...lol.

I gathered that all of you were taking the same course. As a prospective model, ItsMike needs to work a bit on hand and arm positions and maybe that stance. Don't give up on photography -- your only hope may be to stay on the back side of the lens. ;)

this one was my favorite...only wish her eyes were open.

edit: sorry, thought the photos was embedded there for some reason. I'm referring to the one where she looks to be opening the vines as if they were curtains.
