Yeah... I saw that post too, but haven't tried to time mine yet! The MKII seems fast enough for me though. I'm still working at figuring out what my optimum settings should be for things other than sports shots. I really like the "SI" settings after I tweeked a few.

Jim,

Interesting. Is it possible that the 8.5 fps includes changes in focus and/or exposure? If neither is required, it may be able to shoot faster.

Okay, we've had ruler tests and duck tests, now do we need some light bulb tests? Hang one by a wire and take a series. Then swing it and take a series. Then swing it and turn it off. :) :D

Seriously, I wonder if a car or a boat coming right at you would slow it down.

Have Fun

Yeah well, it is pretty darn fast. Light bulbs...Interesting.

I will never time my camera. I don't (as many of you know) measurebate. My Mom told all the bad things that would happen when I was 12/13 if I did that.

But, anyway....I did have a chance to use the Uzi feature on the MKII several times at the Sprint Boat race yesterday and it worked fantastic! I'll be posting the photos a little later...

Uzi-Feature©

:) Nice...

But.. Uzi - lightweight & innacurate..

..I see the MkII as more of an M16 ...

M-16's jam too much...AK-47 maybe? What's freaking super-fast and as reliable as the government always wanting more of our money?

Ferrari?

The funny thing is after that sequence, all the people around me looked in astonishment. "Wow. What was THAT?" They asked.

"See the website on Monday," I replied. ;)

Browning Ma Duece.. (.50 M2)

The anaology fits..

It's heavy as hell,. totally reliable,. shoots REALLY fast.. shoots BIG shots.. (ie: calibre OR MegaPixels) carries LOTS of ammo.. (the M2 is where the term "the whole nine yards" comes from.. that was the full length of the ammo belt..)

...and it works best behind a BIG barrel on a gimble mount tripod!

I think I just decided on a name for my MkII...

MkII.. M2.. same diff!

It doesnt suprise me one bit based on the MP3's i've heard.

I play paintball too and it sounds the same to many guns i've heard shot, most of which are 12-20 bbs (balls per second).

I'll have to dig some info up for ya guys.

Maybe we could get someone interested if we suggested some M2 tests?  Focused on the barrel? :) :D
