A trip to Thursley NNR today was a bit of a washout to say the least lol, but a break in the rain (torrential lol) brought out some of the common lizards onto the boardwalks.
A couple of them let me get really close :D
The first two shots, taken with the Canon 60mm are uncropped. The last one only a slight crop as it was just off the boardwalk, but a very pretty colour.

I think the wet grass makes for the more interesting background.

Good shots Linda, I take it these were only a few cm long in body length? If so, they're similar to our local skinks. I'm surprised you were able to get close enough, they're pretty nervous reptiles, at least from my experience.

Brilliant shots Linda
As Dave stated if they are like our common shinks they are hard to capture

Thanks Dave, yes, they arent very big at all, here is a pic taken kneeling a couple of feet away from one. Some are very nervous, a couple were slightly better at letting you approach them if I was careful :D

I ran off a series of snaps of a similar one last week but binned the lot as they were rubbish. I'm doubly cheesed off with my efforts now as these are great, especially shot 1.

LOL, sorry to hear they didnt come out very well eccles, but this is the first time I have managed decent pics of them, so maybe next time you will be lucky. I was only lucky because some of them werent too skittish, probably because we have had so much bad weather and they do love to bathe in the sun on the boardwalks, that they stayed close as long as they could inbetween the showers.
Thanks for your comments :D

Hi there and definately yes lol.
Go to Thursley National Nature Reserve just outside Guildford, Surrey. Start off at the Moat Pond, go along the footpath to the left of the pond over the marshy bit. Walk along the boardwalks, quietly and slowly and look at the edges of the boards. If you have sun, you will see them, I guarantee :D
