i am in a photography group where someone had posted this link.
my digital rebel is in transit as we speak! i am sooo excited.
thought i would jump on in since it will be here in a couple weeks and see what i could learn.

all i have used to date was a kodak easyshare :oops:

but i love photography always have.

so i finally got hubby to let me buy a good camera something i can get a truly decent shot out of.

anyhow here i am ....

I also have the Digital Rebel and think that you are going to love it.

The DRebel comes with PhotoshopElements, which is the somewhat watered down version (but still more than amply capable for many uses) version of the Photoshop program.

I would suggest that you get one of the many beginning books for either Elements or Photoshop and start to learn some of the steps and uses for this software. It will be the first thing that you need once you start to generate some images.

You will also notice that there is a Search menu item at the upper right of your screen for this forum. You can do a lot of general as well as detailed searching on topics here as well.

thank you for the welcome i have looked at photo shop i dont think it will be too much trouble a lto of ti works similar to paint shop pro 8 which i am very very capable in lol. i have been in a few paint shop pro groups for years. i may see if it will work just as well for me since i already know it inside and out you know if it aint broke dont fix it. :wink:

i will go to the critique board in a few weeks when i get the rebel and let you all have a whack at me :D .

yep you will be bogged to death with babies now well 5 and under cause mine are all i photograph on most days but if i never make a dime just doing their photos myself will save me a bundle :!:

I recon you will enjoy the new camera and this group is tops, I have learnt so much from the other members.
Oh and watch out when they tell you what lenses you need.... you will find that buying the camera was the easy part :D

but it will be after the christmas rush before any new lenses can be gotten i have 3 babies in diapers :?

but :idea: my dad and mother in law and my grandparents send money every year that equals about 150 to 200 bucks so then i can have one new lense in that price range.

You will learn a lot of stuff from these guys, I know I have. Beware, though, "You will be encouraged to spend all your money" (this is a quote from a response I got to the first words I posted here... it was a few lenses-tri/monopods- grip-and-so-on ago :P . Now I'm a poor happy photographer).

Oh, for those that can't afford any "L" lenses for awhile, you can buy real thin red tape at the art store and put that around the front of your lens. Then when anyone asks, you can say "yep, I got the red strip on my lens too".

i wont be going broke anytime soon on lenses

i do have the three babies in diapers

not to mention a whole passel of other things i need to buy first.

was surprised hubby was ok with me upgrading cameras :shock:

soon as i get it i will be taking pics but it will be with the kit lense for at least 6 months matbe a year. :)

i think i will enjoy it none the less.

Don't listen to all this chatter about spending money on lenses. The kit lens is very adequate for most situations. You will get decent shots with it.

When (and if) you decide you want to start upgrading optics, consider the 50mm f/1.8. Optically it's a gem, and it's a great bargain. It's fast, sharp, and allows much more control over depth-of-field. You will learn more about photography fundamentals with it than with the kit lens. All that for considerably less than $100.00---Canon must be crazy.

i am a dependant lol

hubby is active duty he has been in 4 years just resigneed for four more years.

he is trying to finish his college

he will get his bachelors in december then enter the masters program next spring.

maybe in a few eyars when he has a masters ans gets a GOOD paying job i can get the camera and equipment i REALLY want and start making a little bit of money myself ( at least enought to pay for my stuff LOL)
