-all to visit B&H.

Okay. Maybe that isn't altogether true, but for me, it was one of the highlights of our trip from California to New York and back. Nothing can prepare you for the size and activity that appears to be routine in that store. (My wife does not completely share my fond memories for that part of our vacation.)

The final day of our trip (yesterday) began in Amarillo, Texas, and ended up in our own driveway, 996 miles and 15 hours later. I still had enough energy left to log onto the forum and see how the boys in Canada were doing and to see Jim's amazing boat racing photos.

This hobby and this forum might just make a young man out of me yet.

Now, to wait for the credit card statement-----

Sounds like a heck of a trip :)
Where about in the So Cal Desert are you located?

Do you do much photography in the desert?

My pictures will be mostly in desert landscapes.

So, how did the Belmondo inventory of photography equipment change as a result of your cross-country quest?

I'm in Indian Wells (near Palm Springs).
This is the last bastion of civilization between Los Angeles and Phoenix (not counting Indio and Blythe). Where are you?

I didn't buy anything significant there, but I did order a 22" LaCie monitor. I have to get a handle on this color business, and everyone seems to think it all begins with the monitor. I'm rapidly running out of excuses. Expect it to be delivered late this week.

It's funny, but I was never really gone. I think I only failed to log on 2 or 3 days in the entire two weeks. In fact, we only hit one hotel on the entire trip (in Pennsylvania) that didn't have a high-speed internet connection available. About half of those were free, and two of those were wireless. We stayed almost exclusively in Marriott Hotels or their affiliates (Marriott Courtyards and Fairfield Inns).

The world is very different these days.

Anyway, fatigue precluded me from having much to say, but I monitored as much as I could.

Glad to be back.

Belmondo is down there in God's Country, and some of the rest of us have to drive for a day to get there for desert landscape photography. The best time of the year is March when the desert wildflowers bloom.

Well I just flew 4,500 miles and back last week to visit B&H. ....well, not really only to visit B&H, I was visiting my brother who lives about 40 miles from New York City, in New Jersey.

I bought a new lens (the 70-300 DO IS USM) and a 512 MB Sandisk Extreme card, ofcourse for much less money than what I would have paid here in Europe... :)

I think the most important question is, did you start your last day here?

I am in San Diego. Have been through your neck of the desert many times as I used to live in 29 Palms. Still go there often.

He tried to claim to me that he never paid much attention to the desert wildflowers. In March, I had to drive around for 1800 miles to photograph the desert wildflowers, and they were practically in his back yard.
