My wife is usually pretty stiff and just doesn't look good in photos. Constantly making faces with her lips and just always looking stiff and forced. I think I've finally found a way to make her relax... well, that and losing 60 pounds might have helped her feel more at ease in front of the camera... :)

Again... with the 50mm:

These pictures are framed well, and I think you have a flattering angle here in these pictures. The expression isn't bad at all, but maybe still a little bit uncomfortable. Have you tried having her open her mouth to show some teeth when she smiles? (I know some people are uncomfortable with that.) Also, as I'm sure you know and its not easy, catching the subject offguard, getting them to laugh, etc. can make for some great memorable portraits. The background is also a little distracting especially in the 2nd picture, but that might not have been helped.

Thanks... I worked a long time on framing and composition. I used to be HORRIBLE at that.

Oh man, I've tried everything...lol. She just doesn't do well in front of a camera for some reason. Compared to the shots I got of her in her normalness, these are incredibly relaxed. I appreciate your honesty in your comments... it really helps me to see what things I could look for next time out.

Composition on the first picture is good, but on the other, first up I prefer the subject to be looking into the picture rather than out. How would it look in landscape it would then give more prominence to the face.

I think I know what you're talking about. If the second was in landscape, and composed it so that I had some space to the left to give her to look into, to create a little bit of mystery or tension? I think I could dig that... I'll try it next time. Thanks for the comments.

Very nice and very attractive. Focus is perfect and composition looks great. Bigger smile would help but based on what you've said so far this is quite an accomplishment. Nice job.

She looks exactly like your daughter to me.

Now we know why your daughter is so cute!

These are very well-done, I think. I can't find anything wrong with them. Whether the expression is natural or not, that's a question only you can answer. If it's a natural expression for her, then those who know her will say they're great portraits!

Ok... so it's only fair that I post before/after shots of my wife. She's worked hard to get down to where she is now.

Here she is before at her peak weight (I can't take credit for the photography... THANK GOD! hahah)

And here she is yesterday down 60 pounds... Yeah, I'll take credit for this photo. Show her some love... she likes the comments

I believe beautiful women come in many shapes and sizes. But the weight loss is obviously a great thing for her health, and a commendable achievement. A the self-confidence she gains from that achievement is what will make her more beautiful.

Congrats to Mrs. Forkball and to you John. Being the husband of a woman whom lost 85 pounds a few years ago, and then lost it again after the baby I know what she had to go through. I also know the benefits extend beyond the Mrs. in several ways. Enjoy your new wife, I know I enjoy mine.

PS, great pics, but you already knew that. ;)

Dang, Mrs Forkball is looking nice.;) COngrats on the weight loss. My daughter is getting married in Oct and I am trying to lose some lbs myself. I know how hard it is. Especially when the wife make's a peach cobbler (w/ice cream), cupcakes and chocolate chip cookies for the 4th. Boy did I blow it.:o Very nice pic. Hope we see more of her in the future. She has nothing to be bashfully about in front of the camera.
