View Full Version : have you ever seen so many angry/offended threads than 1d3 threads?

I continue to be amazed at the number of 1d3 threads where people have been offensive/offended or angry/hurt by comments people are making. It seems our lust for the new camera has turned us all into bickering idiots who fight over the smallest things. I've been lucky enough to stay out of them, but it saddens me that alot of these threads look like they'd be on meanspirited ol' dpreview. people are jumping at eachother at the first chance to point out their mistake or lack of abilities or whatever.

come on people, it's just a camera. this is the nicest and friendliest camera forum out there...lets keep it that way--even if we do have that new-camera-lust.

I agree. I can't believe the blame that has been spread to the dealers, to Canon, to the idiots who either bought the camera, or didn't buy it.

The emotion that this situation has stirred up is unreal.

It has been a major bore since the first announcement. But if people are now fighting and being offensive then maybe time to check them thar threads out ;-) I never fail to be amazed at the fuss people make about their 'gears'.

but to this degree? i remember bickering in the past, but this is out of control. veteran forum members acting like little kids with insults and all that.

And I missed all of that action! Why didn't anyone tell me about it! It's all your fault! You probably think that I'm not good enough since I didn't buy a Mk III, did you? It's only a 10MP camera, after all. My 30D and my rebels are also black, so they must be just as good and as fast, so I should've been invited to these discussions! What's the matter with you people! Geez!

You have missed some dramatic moments involving your bossom buddy Jaker and his precious MkIII camera gears (sic).
Talking about gears, have not heard from our young friend Tareq in a while.

Good grammar son. Glad that expensive eduKation has paid off :p

Poor Doc. I never really forgave him for tellin' me to get a 70-200mm f4.0 for birding and then I went and did it   What an ass ... but I kinda liked him despite it all.

He's been banned before and has returned. I think he's gotten into disagreements with the powers that be.

As to the mean spirited banter in the threads re the Mark III, I've been a part of those threads and have not once stepped over the kindness line. It's not as bad as it's been made out to be. There have been some posts that were taken as rude by others, but the poster then apologized each time.

You damn idiots. ;)

Yes. When the 5D came out, there were many strident comments spoken against the camera and, more importantly, the people that chose to buy it. It settled down a great deal after a few months. The 1D3 turmoil will also settle down in a few weeks.

I must say that POTN seems to be one of the friendlier forums I have ever visited. A bit of friendly banter, but without it life would be dull!

Since it is Canon-oriented, I'm quite surprised that I haven't seen the word "fanboy" being used. In a lot of other forums that word is heavily used as soon as someone has a different view about some equipment.

A lot of computer-oriented forums can hardly be visited without the need for asbestos suits.

I too have been avoiding the Mark III threads simply because I'm not in the market for one. Looks like that was a mistake - nothing like a bit of sizzle on the boards, providing you can watch from a safe distance.

It's always a laugh watching people get shirty when their own particular sacred cow gets spanked ;)

Thankfully, Tommy, you and I have been exerting a calming, not to say moderating, influence on some of those impulsive youngsters.
Furthermore, I say in about two months much of the MkIII fog should lift.

I'm not sure that I am capable of maintaining that "moderating" mindset, but I've learned of late to remain somewhat calm on the internet. Instead, I relieve all my frustrations on the roads of northeast Ohio.

You know that button on the right of the camera, at the top of the grip? well I accidentally pressed mine today,. and a series of scary loud clicking noises came out - i was so scared I dropped the camera, fortunately only onto the padded mat I spread out whenever I take my gear out to look at and polish.

I'm terrifed I've broken it, but you know, maybe I should use this as an excuse to get a Mark III and some fast L glass. whaddaya think?

;)

Seriously, I took my gear out yesterday for the first time in months ! I really ought to get out there some more - but as Lightstream says, it's scary out doors....that big old sky can suck you right up....

Forgive me if this has been asked already, but what the hell is a 5E? In your sig you have listed a Canon 5E what is that? Probably some inside joke I'm missing. Again, sorry if I'm late.

dammit! I knew some people got confused by that. It's just an old screename that i've used everywhere without problem....probably because no one else would have such a stupid log in name. :)

and yeah....I'm trying to sell of the 1d2n and the 30d is now the property of my fiancee. My 300d is happily in the hands of my tattoo artist right now too.

Sorry, no joke. It's me daydreaming while writing. It should be 7E as in eye-controlled Elan 7 - i.e. a film body. Elan 7E is the US name, EOS 30 is the non-US name. Sig now corrected.
