Nice job on the fireworks. I did my first fireworks shots last night and I think they came out ok but I was limited at my distance with a 18-55 lens. What lens did you use for those shots? They look great.

An excellent first attempt... I would be happy with any of them. I tried shooting some myself for the first time the other day... Nothing I got was as good as yours... I look forward to hearing the answers to some of the questions others have posted.

Most of the shots were with the following manual settings using my 30D-
ISO 100
f8
2-3 sec exposure
Lens- 28-135 @ 28 mm
I used a tripod and remote shutter release.
Thanks for the comments.

I was there too- these look great. Did you shoot raw or are these jpg?
Its a great little event, but do you think the show was a little shorter then the past few years?
My shots are Portrait orientation from the ground to the air... I didn't post any of those yet- but I did just get my shots up from Lenox.

Yes I did shoot RAW. The show seemed very short to me. I thought maybe it went quickly because I was so busy with the camera. I thought the finale was the midway point and was surprised that it really was the finale .

Hey V8, that is exactly what happened to me!! I shot my first fireworks on July 3 and I couldn't believe how fast they were over. When the finale came I thought it was just a lull in the action. I was very disappointed that it was over so fast. I used exactly the same set-up as you did with a 17-55 2.8 at F8 ISO 100 with similar results. I shot JPEG and my only problem was it started to rain, so my last 40-50 shots were compromised with raindrops on the lens that I tried to wipe off unsucessfully.
