Sorry, I need up to 30 days to get a permit before I can plan the shoot.
Yeah, this should go over like a fart in church...

(Did I mention the $1M in liability insurance that you must also carry if you will be within 100 feet of your first shot for more than 30 minutes with 2 or more people?)
Thoughts? Opinions? Anyone care? :)

Several photog reporting sites are up in arms about this too. However in todays world if your are shooting a commcerial gig it is normal to get a permit,a dn some locations do require insurance riders too.
Just another CODB the way I see it. The 30 day issue will probably be the stick wicket for many shooters in the NY area for the reasons you state.
Move to CA where pretty soon you will have to have an environmental impact study and caarbon foot print statement prior to working around a tree...

 It wouldn't be nearly as funny if it weren't so close to the truth.

I still don't believe it. I mean it's hard to believe but over the border everything is possible.

$1m in liability isn't that much.

they say turn around will be somewhere in the area of 24 hours, and you apply on line. Fee is nothing. Just the stuff you need to do when your doing your job. Not a huge issues at all. No more different then doing a shoot on private property and needing permission first.
