Apparently this guy smashed/crushed his Rebel somehow, he doesn't explain exactly. Then he took pictures while disassembling it before sending it to Canon.

Some 'interesting' shots that you don't see very often, heh. Too bad they were taken with a video camera, but the quality is good enough to see the damage.

Is it just me or is PBase being slow? Hmm just noticed his pictures are about 800K.

I think that PBase is having problems today. Access and image display has been really slow all day.

From what I was able to decipher reading a few posts on the message board, his drebel had a run-in with his dodge, and the drebel lost.

I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't start off on the roof of the car and perform a twisting 2 1/2 off the roof as he drove away....

maybe he tried the hack - to see if it made the plastic as strong as magnesium?!

...or tried to play 'CSI: Miami' with his camera

Can't wait for the followup comparison with the 10D to see how much better it fares   :P

Is this what happens when you upload hacked firmware? - 'Auto' self destruct? ;)

We actually had a corresponding thread here some time ago ... think it was called the '10D bounce test' - leaving the 10D on the car roof.

Obviously, the 10D handled the challenge better.

Best regards,
Andy

Search Engine doesn't find it...maybe another time, place or camera

I have no drum to beat on the DRebels plastic case, but would be greatly surprised if the 10D fared any better under materially similar circumstances. It is the "obviously" without backup that gives me grief....never assume, whether metal case or structural plastic. Under various circumstances, the plastics win...take the side panels on a Saturn automobile vs. a shopping cart. Granted, the Saturn doesn't win at much else, but this one "challenge" it does.
