Hi,
This is my first post here. I want honest opinions, no matter how harsh. I'm here to learn so any criticism will be taken on board. Thanks

Very nice photo. I like the vignetting affect. What lens was this? The only way i could think to make this photo better would be if the edges had some more sharpness to them.

Hi mumbles,
Thanks for your comments.
The shot was taken using a Canon 17-40 f/4 L. The vignetting was actually added in photoshop elements so the lack of sharpness towards the edge of the frame was deliberate. It's an effect that I personally like.

Harsh? I hope you're joking. This is fantastic. I love the choice to do it in B&W. And I love the perspective, how the way you've shot it, it looks like the lines of the bridge converge. Great use of the wide angle. Again, nice shot.

No I wasn't joking. Although I'm happy with the shot by my personal standards, I'm always looking to improve my photography, so any constructive criticism is welcome even if it can seem quite harsh at the time. ;)

Interesting shot. I too think it might look better, sharper, but that's an artistic call.

That quote pretty much sums up my thoughts :) Excellent b/w treatment, good tones, good contrast.

The B&W and clouds give it a very ominous look to it, but don't know if that is what you wanted.

Yes that was exactly what I wanted. It made a pleasant change to be in that location and have a great interesting sky for once. On the numerous occasions I've been there in the last few months the sky has always been either very dull and grey or just completely cloudless, which makes it pretty uninteresting in my opinion.

Could not agree more. However, on the downside, it does look a little too "Potoshopped" - there are aspect to this that vere a little too far away fromrealistic for my taste.

I love looking at that bridge when I travel into London. The first one is great, nice angles and the sky gives the image a real emotional touch.

I think this shot is awesome. The depth and use of darks and lights to add to that depth are really great. In regards to the vignett, I can appreciate what you were going for, however, because the clouds are further away from the photographer than the railing, it would have served you better to isolate the rail and motion blur that without effecting the clouds. As a professional retoucher, the best lesson I can teach is that when your using PS, the highest quality retouching is when the viewer never knows you were ever there. Be selective with PS filters and effects.

Wow I don't know what to say. It's great. Yeah I agree with Kraig C about the sweat shirt that it's blown out, but I think It's really hard to avoid it. I don't know. This picture is great. I don't know if there is a perfect picture out there, but I think the little imperfection is what makes it beatiful and unique. I also think it depends on the person who is looking at it. Good job EllJam, keep it up.

Excellent! I love the way you've sucked out the compression with your UWA! It now looks like a really long bridge to cross! :D
