i love canon and use thier cameras and lenses out of loyalty to the brand...but i have been nothing short of disappointed with the 550 flash...anyone have experience with the metz line of flashes and can you tell me what you find to be the best flash for sports...
i shot the nys police olympics this weekend in the rain and was letdown by my canon...
help please

How were you let down by 550?

I've learned to use 550's in manual mode and camera in manual. Basically I select e.g. 1/2 power and adjust D30 for good exposure. In most situations light does not change that much and you can just toggle slightly between apertures and speeds if it does change.
550 is not perfect, it can be difficult sometimes. But it's the perfect remote flash when you use them with ST-E2.
