I've been searching for 1GB Sandisk ultra II CF cards everywhere, but couldn't find any online retailer who has them in stock.

Is this due the price cut or ultra II just too popular???

I have 2 x 512MB ultra II ones, and kinda hoping to sell them and get 2 x 1GB ones.

have anyone seen it anywhere at all?

They're a bit like rocking horse poo at the moment :)

I ended up getting a Lexar 40x Pro 1Gb from warehouse express. About the same price, comes with PhotoRescue software and downloads to the pc much faster than my UltraII 1Gb. Write speed in camera is roughly the same, I suspect the camera is the limiting factor there though.

I do have a 1GB 40x Lexar, but Sandisk ultra II reads and writes faster than Lexar, from my experience. Also if u check the CF card database, test results will tell u the difference. Though speeds are nearly the same for both cards on a 10D, they do vary fair a bit on a 1D MK II, and that's the body i'm hoping to get next, then it'll save me the cash on purchasing new fast CF cards.

What about a Sandisk Extreme? I was in New York last week and bought a 512 MB Sandisk Extreme card at B&H, it was only $5 more than the 512 MB Ultra II card (which was out of stock).

Does anyone use the Micro drives or only CF cards?

I only use CF card myself, it's faster than microdrive and better format for storing them.

I don't really trust ebay for anything, especially comes to expensive camera equipments, so far i've been using B&H, never had a problem and completely satisfied.

I thought about getting extreme card, but on some test ultra II surprisingly out-performed extreme. and if price cut for CF cards is taking place soon, then i'll wait, otherwise i'll turn to extreme.

I bought a 2GB Ultra II about a week and a half ago from Buy.com. I saw the 1GB card in stock at that time. You might want to check there periodically.

I have an Extreme 512 card and am pleased with it. It also comes with rescue software which is a bonus.

Sandisk Extreme , and Sandisk Ultra II are the exact same performance pretty much ( it used to be a difference before the Ultra II ), the main difference will be that the extreme line of cards, will be able to tolerate very cold enviromental conditions, as well as very hot enviromental conditions, at least whatever your camera gona be able to tolerate (as if you camera isnt working, the CF isnt gona do you much good )

well, i've been shooting a stage play yesterday and under the low light condition, i switched to RAW, and it quickly filled up my 1G Lexar, n come to think of it, 2G might be more suitable for me in the future, 'cuz once i get my RAW workflow going, i'll be shooting in it.

Luckily, B&H has 2G Sandisk ultra II in stock, and it's on the way now, yipeee :D

I purchased two 2.ogb Ultra II CF cards on Ebay. Two Auctions one was priced out at 380 and the oter 390. I thought I had a great deal, as it turned out they didn't have them in stock. After two weeks, I was able to get a refund after I threatened to report them to the Arizona Attorney Generals office. EBAY SELLER ID= FORUMFACTOR I would reccomend to STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!

That is why there are sites like resellerratings.com for companies that have a name or website.
