Has anyone ever done anything like it? I had a great idea last night to approach some local bridal dress stores and pitch the idea to them.

The bridal dress store would give us some outfits - a wedding dress or two and we would use them for a day. I'd have a few models (I already have a few in mind) who would be my "pseudo-brides" for the day, wear the dresses. I'd have a MUA or two, a hairstylist and maybe another photographer (I'm thinking Toogy, if he's interested - haven't pitched the idea to him yet, so hopefully he chimes in).

Basically, the 1st time around it'd be one big TFCD. The bridal store would have some excellent shots to put up around the store/website, advertising their outfits. The Photographers would have some nice shots for their portfolio. The MUA would have some nice shots for their portfolio, and likewise with the hairstylist.

It'd be somewhat a big production, but I think it would be fun and we could get some great shots.

Anyone done anything like this before?

Comments? Ideas?

Sounds like an interesting idea! Keep me informed if you do line something up.

I actually have done this before, about 4 or 5 years ago. Everyone was really open to the idea. The bridal store loaned me a dress and a tux, the florist made me a bouquet, the hairdresser did an updo. The only thing I didn't have was a MUA. Oh, and I got free time at a wedding location to shoot all of the above at. It was a great experience. I think I might have to do it again. Just need to track down those pesky models.

So you had a bride and groom? Where did you go shoot? Did you do like posed ceremony shots or ... ?

I think this is a great idea! Since I started shooting weddings, I've considered doing this for our more upscale bridal shop to attract customers around bridal show time.

Yep, a bride and groom. I did the shoot at a couple of locations. One was an old manor with a beautiful lawn and goldfish pond that a lot of weddings were booked at, then we went to a natural-type setting with a larger pond and lots of trees. I really did more of a bride-groom portrait session than any ceremony shots.
