Are you referring to scanning (of prints, negs, transparencies), digitizing videos, or something else? As you know, the digital SLR is a digitizer!

No I refer to a digitizer to draw on instead of using the mouse.

A tablet?
Yes! Get one.. get the $99.00 graphire! You will love it.
Anyone using PhotoShop should use a Tablet! Using a mouse is like driving a sheetrock screw with a ball peen hammer!

Do You mean "Wacom Graphire 3" ?
I just read a short review of it in a danish magazine which is why I asked. I thought the price was really low so my initial thought is it can't be any good :?:

I have one and think it is a great tablet. With tablets, you pay for size and sensitivity. The Wacom is cheap because of small size and approx 1/2 the levels of sensitivity as their "pro" tablets. My graphire works well for me.

...and paying for size is counterproductive where photo-editing is concerned.
I've used the Wacom Graphire most recently,.. but I cut my teeth on the Big Intuos line.. up to the big $500.00 12"X whatever...
Here is the bottom line;
The bigger the tablet the less helpfull it is!!!!
Period!
.. sure some like the next size up from the littlest Graphire.. BUT DO NOT be attracted to those big mondo pricey tablets!
The amount of motion neccesary to move from point A to point B is far too large.. it is draining and unneccesary.
The only reason one should go for the big tablets is to do the kind of "Digitizeing" that CAD programs use them for.
As far as Graphire Vs. Intuos.. with the Graphire you get 95% of the functionality for less than half the price.
Definately go for the Graphire. You won't be disappointed.

Be prepared to hate it for a while after using a mouse but stick with it. It does take a bit of getting used to but is great once you have got through that initial period.
