View Full Version : Got Me a D30!

Recently bought a D30 (promised the wife I would sell one of my EOS3's......Yeah right), so this is my entry into digital photography... I'm really very happy with the results so far, but a bit concerned on using the USB Interface Cable to upload images. The camera connection tends to stick and it feels like I'm forcing it out even when the connector is squeezed. Is this a common problem or should I use a cf reader.
Thanks in advance

hi wassoler!

welcome!

ditch that clunky usb cable and get a cheap cf reader...i can honestly say i used the usb interface only to set custom functions on occasion...

here's a link for just one of many brands you can buy...for $26.95 you can't go wrong : )

kingston cf reader (http://www.computers4sure.com/product.asp?productid=1073346&iid=939)

good luck and have fun : )

Thanks for the info Bob, I tried a friends Lexar Jumpshot cf reader, but for some reason or other, the USB did'nt recognize it....Do you use the Canon software Zoombreezer or does the cf reader load directly to photoshop?
Sorry for these elementary questions....
Thanks again,

Rudi

wassoler,

just treat the card reader as a normal hard drive. Forget about Zoombrowser, just copy the files straight from the card reader into a directory of your choice.

If you really want good software for your D30 and card reader, get Breezebrowser and Downloader from http://www.breezesys.com/

And congrats on your new D30! I have one, and wouldn't give it up for anything! :D

BTW, I'm not sure if the Lexar card reader you have is an actual reader or one of those "cable only" deals that Lexar makes (sorry, I've never seen one in the flesh, just heard about them). If it's one of those "cable only" deals, I understand that you have to use a special Lexar card with it, otherwise it won't work...

USB card readers are cheap and plentiful, though, so you should not have a problem getting one that works...

This is great....Thanks for the info, it's exactly what I need. You know, I can't get over the quality and instant results of the camera. It's brilliant! Anyone want to buy a well used EOS3?!!
Cheers,
