'BUSY' Sign on my 400D with Sandisk Extreme IV

I recently bought a 4 Gig Sandisk Extreme IV CF card for my 400D and used it for the first time yesterday to take some archive pics of a couple of new lenses, after every shot I got a 'BUSY' sign on my camera display screen, I wasn't expecting it, non of my smaller cards display this after every shot and it didn't really delay things but I have never noticed it happening before.

Having said that the pictures downloaded onto my computer in about half the time that it takes my 1 and 2 Gig cards, has anybody else expeerienced this?

Interesting. Did you try formatting it before shooting?

That sounds very unusual. Like simwells said, where did you purchase? Ebay?

My 10D acts the same way, but I guess that's just because it's old. It is known for being a little slow, compared to newer models at least. I use SanDisk.

I'm in the UK and bought the card from a supplier that I have used before,
'7dayshop.com', They are based in Guernsey in the Channel Islands, I guess you guys over the pond will not have heard of them, I have never had trouble with their gear before, not that I consider this trouble, however I must admit I did not format the card in the camera, I will do that and see if it makes a difference.
I never buy stuff that I consider important from Ebay, I have read such bad stuff about fake gear that I just don't trust it any more, even though I know several people who seem to get alomg well buying and selling on the site.

Could be just that the large card size means the cam has to hunt a tiny bit longer for the card sector to save to, just long enough to flash up 'busy'. Just a suggestion, I've no experience with these cards.

Which display said busy? Bit of a long shot but were you using the flash? I noticed last week that I got a busy sign after each shot when I was using the built in flash (dont often use it so hadnt noticed before).

Mine does it when I shoot raw +L and AEB at 6 shots on continious mode . Camera just can't keep up . I think / thought that was normal .

Camera LCD display, I wasn't using flash, I have a leaning to 'timmyeatchips's' suggestion that the camera has to search more, but I'm no expert.

You may be right, but I was only shooting Jpg fine

A final note on this thread.

I formatted the card in camera and the delays stopped immediately.
