How many shutter activations

How do you tell how many shutter activations have occured if the camera has been set on "auto reset"? :?

YOU can't. There are rumours that Canon can through some arcane mechanism that they are not telling the rest of us about.

only canon can tell you!!

it's not that canon doesn't want to tell how to do it, but you need the adjustment program from canon for your type of EOS and there's a feature there that can tell you the nr of shutter releases (and adjusting the nr )and Canon repair centres are the only one that have this software!
this software is very well kept by canon :wink:

this software is also used for AF adjustments and AE adjustments and shutter adjustments, and deleting error codes etc etc

so if your cam is on autoreset there's no way of finding out yourself 8)
