I understand you cannot directly use the Teleconverter with the 100 Macro. But If you use a 12mm Ext Tube I understand it works.can anyone here post the details as to what order the parts go together and a few images?
Plus how is the quality of the images, and what are the advantages of shooting this combination?

No images but the TC would go directly on the camera followed by the ext tube and then the lens. Guess you'd get around 1.6 :1 with that combo with slight IQ loss.

Does the AF still works with this combo?

I suspect it would but why would you want AF ?

Actually the autofocus does come in handy quite a bit.Especially If your vision isn't exactly 100% anymore. You can't always focus just where you want that way.In that case at least autofocus gives you a shot at getting something sharp, even If it isn't exactly what you want.
Besides the difference in Aperture doesn't exactly give a whole lot of depth of field anyway.

I thought that you could not use the Canon TC with the 100mm Macro but can you use the Kenko Pro 300 DG TC with this lens directly? I have s set of Kenko Extension Tubes on their way to my house and am going to picking up the 100mm and the 1.4x Kenko Pro 300 DG TC in the very near future and I thought that they were compatible to use together without the extension tubes. Am I wrong?
While typing this up I found on the Adorama site this blurb in the description area for both the 1.4x and the 2x Kenko Pro 300 DG TC
"Kenko PRO 300 AF teleconverter will not auto focus with the following lenses: Canon EF 50mm f/2.5 Macro, Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro, Canon EF 85mm f/1.8 USM, Canon EF 300mm f/4 IS USM.
NOT compatible with the new Canon EF-S lenses, 18-55 f/3.5-5.6, 17-85 f/4-5.6, 60 f/2.8 macro "
So it should be compadible to connect but without the use AF?

Edit: The B&H site makes no mention of AF compatibility with specific lenses beyond the EF-S mounts.
"Teleconverters are best used with longer telephoto lenses and are not recommended for lenses wider than 50mm, e.g. 28-105mm. However, full AF operation is only possible with lenses with open aperture of f/2.8 or brighter. Please be aware that AF will work properly only if there is enough light and contrast on the subject to activate the camera's AF sensors. Manual focusing is recommended when using lenses with smaller open f-stop value than those given above.

Note: Not compatible with the Canon Digital-only EF-S lenses, 18-55 f/3.5-5.6, 17-85 f/4-5.6, 60 f/2.8 macro."

I actually used a combo of extension tude and 1.4x today on my Canon 100mm 2.8 macro today for the first time. You'll need to mount 1.4x to the body, then the extention tube, and then the lens. Everything that I researched said to use the 25 extention to be safe so I did. I only took one shot handheld and it was windy so I was really surprised that it didnt turn out worse but here it is. I could probably put two of these little guys on my pinky nail to give you an idea of size.
