Needless to say, my post processing skills still have a ways to go, but please give comments on these taken at a local race track recently. Unfortunately, it was a fully overcast day, so no direct sunlight was to be found.

I like the panning of the first and third.
Is the road really descending from right to left?
Perhaps removing the tilt of the horizon gives still better results and playing a bit with the levels, to blacken the greys a bit...

Thanks. Shutter speed, panning speed, etc. are in ongoing experimentation :D

Yes. The section of track to the rear is mostly level. This track has a lot of vertical movement and the section closest to where I was shooting is slightly sloped.

My Photoshop skills are improving, but when you start from virtually nothing, it takes a while

I'm impressed with the panning. That's not an easy skill to master, and you're doing good work.

Thanks. I have always liked photographing races. I used to go to the CanAm races in college and shoot with my old Pentax Spotmatic. I shot slides one race with a bunch of 3M slide film that I had gotten cheap, back when 3M was trying to mount a challenge to Kodak. Within 6 months, I could stack 36 slides and look right through them. I have never seen film fade as quickly as that, particularly when stored in the dark.

Awesome pannimg Dale!
Really impressive. :)
These images could really use a healthy does of "levels" and maybe a touch of saturation...
..keep at it with the "tweeking" .. you'll get the hang of it soon enough! :)

I do OK at panning; at least get the basic hang of it. Still working on pan speed and shutter speed to get the background look that I like.

You've got that right :D :? I've gotten a bit better, but still feel that I stink at this aspect of post processing.

It'll never be soon enough :x
