I called Canon USA today and asked for the M80. At first the representative didn't even know about it. He went away for a few minutes and came back and said that the M80 was not a Canon USA product, there were no announcements about it and it was not available in the USA and was only available from Canon Asia and Europe.
This is very disappointing as many of us are in the market for a mass storage device and we are limited to a non Canon product such as the Epson P-5000. It would be great if this product was available in the USA and we wouldn't go offshore to buy something like this.
I have written to Canon requesting information as to whether or not it would be released here. May I suggest that all interested parties do the same and contact Canon asking about this product. Let them know that we are interested hopefully theu will take notice. Why should we be behind the rest if the world?

while the same battery is really nice, from what little i've read the canon unit seems to be more expensive and less impressive. Like I say, do a search on here and you'll find some good info.
for what i paid for the p-5000, I wouldn't accept any less quality than it is. I think the greatest thing about it, is the unbelievable screen it has. from what i've heard, that canon's just isn't as nice.

I have decided to not wait and see. I needed a media viewer and storage unit now for my wife to be able to show off all the pictures we took on our safaris.
I did some more research and found the Epson P-3000/5000 highly recommended however when I went to B&H and saw the size of the Epson I settled on the Archos 504. When I got home I played with it and was not impressed with the colors so this morning I was back at B&H and I bought the Epson P-3000. What a difference in displays! The Archos goes back tomorrow and my wife is so happy she will deal with the bulkiness of the Epson even though it is $200 more than the Epson.
Me - I am disappointed as I was hoping she would keep the Archos for herself and I would get to keep the Epson. I guess I could always justify the P-5000 later on :-). For now we will "share" the P-3000 and no prizes for guessing whose bag it will spend the most time in.
