Can anyone here recommend a hot spot for great sunsets in NJ, it would have to be facing one of the bays (west) either Barnegat or the Delaware bays, hope I'm not in the wrong forum thanks.

Let's see...I was born and raised there, but left a long time ago. There are quite a few spots along Barnegat Bay...namely, Long Beach Island and Island Beach State Park. At the southern tip of IBSP, there's the Barnegat Lighthouse...you may be able to incoporate it into your composition. The southern tip of Long Beach Island opens up into the Little Egg Inlet and Little Egg Harbor, and the Great Bay. Further south, Cape May Point is also an excellent location...it also has its own lighthouse. Southern NJ has quite a few marshes, etc which can also figure into your compositions. Just north of Atlantic City is the city of Brigantine...there should still be a wildlife refuge there which would be another location.

If you happen to be up in northern NJ, you should try the lower Manhattan skyline from the Jersey side as the sun starts to set. If the conditions are right, the sun turns the skyscrapers an incredible golden color. I always wanted to get this shot, but never found the time or the weather didn't cooperate. Looks like a trip back to NJ to visit the folks is in order. Hope all this helps.

As I said, I left there several years ago. These were always good spots, but I don't know how much has changed. Maybe a current resident can provide more details.

my bag is to travel to Cape May to bird and shoot in Oct. Done it twice in the last six years. The sunrises/sets from Philadelphia beach are awsome.
