View Full Version : Yikes??

So I'm on a vacation, at a baseball game and chatting with someone. My backpack decides, at that point, that it shouldn't stay open and whammy, my 30D w/ grip goes crashing to the ground.

My initial thoughts are "Oh no" as I'm shooting a friend's wedding.

I can't turn it on. Everything seems wacked. But, it seemed that one of the batteries had jarred loose in the grip.

I've done everything I can think of to make sure it's shooting right. Seems OK. The only thing is the popup flash (which I never use) is slightly off and it's not fully shut. Doesn't seem to bother the camera and my other flashes seem to work OK. I'll probably eventually want to send it in to get fixed (any ideas on what that would cost me??)

Anyway, I wanted to pop here and ask to see if anyone could offer me any other things I should do to test to make sure everything is working OK. My pal's wedding is Wednesday and I don't have all the goodies (extra batteries, grip etc.) with my backup (an XT). So, this is basically life or death.

Not only that, I really want to be using this over the course of the next few days and plan on taking a ton of photos, so I want to have all my bases covered.

What I've done:

- I've inspected it over and over and it seems ok, besides some dings and the pop up.
- I've checked different lenses with it and it seems to be working well with them. Shoots fast, seems to focus as quick as normal.
- I've looked at every inch of it and nothing seems cracked or bent (such as the lens hookups etc.)
- The LCD screen is fine, works well. Same with the light for the upper screen.

Thanks for any other tips or ideas. I imagine I'll have to send this in to canon or somewhere like that when I get home. Problem is, I go on another vacation Aug. 1 and want this with me! Not sure how long those places will take!
