I recently asked Pradeep to share his border creation techniques with me. Here's his answer. Do you guys have other ways of creating cool borders ? :)

Hi Zak,
Welcome to this forum.
This is quite easy to do:
You'll need a photoediting program. I use PaintShop Pro 8.1. You can download the trial for free at www.jasc.com
1. Open your image.
2. Select your image (Ctrl-A) and then put a border around it. A 5-10 pixel border is good on a 4 megapixel image.
3. Then reselect your new image (Ctrl-A) again. This selects your image and the new border you put around it.
4. Now increase the Canvas Size to something large, say maybe 2500 X 2500. This will now place your picture on a big white background (assuming white is the color you chose in your color selector).
5. So now you have your little picture with border selected floating on this big white canvas. Just use the 3D effects tool to add a drop shadow. This will drop a shadow from your selected picture onto your white background.
6. Now Crop out your picture from the background, leaving about an "inch" of white background and include your newly added shadow.
7. Save your file.
8. The reason I use white background is because it blends well with webpage backgrounds (especially www.photo.net), so it gives the effect of the image floating above the webpage itself. Of course, if your webpage background is not white, you'll have white frame on your picture.
I hope this was clear to you.
Take Care,
Pradeep
