I was a fool trying to do this. The upper limit for formatting a HDD in FAT32 under Windows 2000 and XP is only 32GB. And it's too bad that the Windows did not warn me. An error message was only shown when it was "nearly" complete. I tried several times and I realised this.
Don't do it. Windows 98 has to be used to format a HDD over 32GB in FAT32.

Yes.. I've run into this before...
You can use a simple Win98 Boot disk however :)
Actually I don't even think WinXp will let you make the FAT 32 Partition larger than 32GB.. let alone format it.

There are time when you may need to use FAT as NTFS won't be readable in many situations... take for instance installation of a notebook drive into an X-Drive.. it HAS to be FAT32 or the X-Drive wo't work...

NTFS formatted drives won't interface with Cameras and most of these USB HDD devices. It will only be a matter of time before it happens, but not right now.
