I guess there are going to be a lot of photos of le Tour appearing over the next few weeks. I've never shot an event like this before and found it really challenging (but fun) dodging the spectators and police motorbikes!
Anyway, here are the best ones:

Ok, this one's not sport, but kind of sums up the gallic crazyness of the event:

Great shots. Look like #3 was waving at you? Wish I was there, Still kinda bumming it is 1:20 here in the states and still no shots of stage 4. Keep up the good work and PLEASE post more. Cycling doesn't get much coverage here.
I don't know what the car is, but if she's driving i'll ride. What is that sponsor?

Thanks for the comment Rich,
Actually he wasn't waving, he'd just taken a drink and his hand was coming back up from his bottle cage to the handlebars. The drink also explains the slightly odd look on his face.
Cochonou make dried sausages (like French salami). I guess the company name comes from cochon (pig). The car is the "classic" Citroen 2CV.

I am a fan of Le Tour even though I live in Oz. We get it live on TV here -- from 10pm onwards.
Nice pics. Can you get out in the open country were there are very few spectators. Get some nice pan shots?

I like #3 even after you explained what he is doing. It does look like he is in mid-sentence and waving at you
Could you imagine pulling up in one of those cars here in the states....LOL
You'd clear the restaurant with people coming to see it. Great shots

2CV?
The car is the "classic" Citroen 2CV.
Deux Chevaux, meaning "two horses" IIRC.
Fun little car (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citroën_2CV). AFAIK noone ever managed to get one to tip over in a corner (IIRC Citroen made a contest out of that at the introduction)

Well, they never drove it like the teen age kids in the USA do, light up a smoke and talk on that cell phone in the winter. Hey we'll show you how to wreck that baby.
Whats up with the lack of new pictures?? Man i am dieing to see more pictures of the Tour.

Thanks for the comments everyone, very encouraging.
As for the 2CV, it's a classic. It was first designed to be driven by french farmers and part of its original brief was that it should be able to drive across a ploughed field with a basket of eggs on the front seat.
For its time (1936) it was revolutionary (linked air suspension, magnesium and aluminium parts etc). Nowadays they make for a scary ride, what with the alarming lean on corners and tin-foil thick body panels!

I attended a meeting with the council to discuss the impact to workers and businesses affected by the race. It was funny, the man said, "Don't blame me, I'm just the guy at the end of the food chain. It's not my fault," was his opening statement.
Anyway, he managed to negotiate with the police crossing points. I told the workers and when it came to it, one employee was left stranded on the wrong side because the police decided close the crossing points 30 mins earlier than agreed. I feel relieved, as this could have affected a lot more.
