hi,

when i got my Rebel it came with vrs bits and bobs one being a 'compact flash Hardware surrport'? card reader.

Ive tryed this to download my pics from card2pc but i havent had much luck!!!

The reader is usb so goes in the back of my pc ok, the light comes on on the reader when the pc is on and the card is in.
I dont know if the reader comes with any software? if it did i didnt get it, if it didnt how do you get the images off of your card on to the pc?

I currently DL images from the camera with the wire you get, but read on here thats a bad idea? and slower than a reader.
Please Help!

Thx.

If you are running Windows XP, you don't need any software for most card readers. Just plug it into your USB port and wait for the computer to recognize it and that's it. You can use Windows Explorer, FVU, or other programs to move the pictures fronm the card to the PC. The card and reader show up under My Computer as another drive letter.

You will need to find a CF card reader that has software for Win 98. You can also check the web site of your current card reader to see if they have downloadable drivers. You really should upgrade. Win98 is horrible for USB conflicts.

Since most CF readers are USB, and Win98 only started to handle USB well with W98SE, this could be a problem.

In any event, you will ony be getting USB1.x support and not the faster USB2.x. With a WinXP upgrade, and it really is an upgrade from W98 in almost every way, you can just slip in an inexpensive USB2.x card and have this all covered. Do make sure that you have the basic hardware requirements for WinXP before making the upgrade.
