Just installed a Sandisk CF reader - it installed fine as Win 2000 pro did all the work and installed the driver - the new reader lit-up, I re-booted when asked to do so. I slipped in the card and a message popped up telling my that I'd "unplugged or ejected the hardware" and that's it! - you click OK and the CF reader dies and is inaccessable!

I've tried on an off most of the day to get it to work but it does exactly the same each time - I've deleted the USB connections and let the PC find them again and still the same - its currently sitting on the desk with a green light on the USB hub but I know as soon as I insert the card it will eject itself and die!

If anyone has any insight PLEASE help me before I jump on it!

Cheers
David

Some ideas (just guessing, hope it helps):

Is the card reader connected to the computer via an USB hub (external device) or directly to an USB port on the computer? If via a hub, does the hub use bus power or external power?

Did you try it on another computer?

Thanks Jesper,
It was connected via the hub and the hub used external power - I've now connected it to the PC USB port and its working fine - Why didn't I think of that !

Actually I did, as I connected it to the card for the hub which had a spare USB port and it didn't work - I didn't think if the PC Port.

Thanks again for your kind help.

David
