The bride's makeup had just been completed and her head piece attached, I shot this whilst she was checking everything in the mirror.
I was messing in Photoshop and came up with this high key effect which I really like, but I'd appreciate some objective thoughts.

Nice idea Dan, great framing and the make-up on the eyes draws the viewers attention really well - except it's just a tad too pale for my personal taste.

I like it, but try dialing back the effect a little. It'd be a great background in an album.

I have to say I really like it. I just wish I could see the chin a little more.

Elegant, moody and very eye-pleasing.

Just about perfect - maybe 10% less effect.

I like it too - but I think I'd like it better in print. I'll bet the print retains just a touch of the detail that's missing on the web. Also, a version of the shot where the bride is looking at you would probably really rock. High key usually does amazing things to the eyes.

Jamie has a point with those eyes and maybe little bit more detail on the neck would help but all that doesn't change the fact that this is stellar picture anyways

I second the praise above. I'd love to see before/after if that would not be out of bounds to request.
Cheers,
Phil.

I love it too and also would love to see how you did it. I do however wish some detail from her chin was left.

I like the effect as well but think it's just a tad too much. I'd love to see her whole face.

Great shot! Like others said, put back in a little in the face and especially chin to make her head pop just a tad more. But I really like it and might try this out tomorrow :)

Dan, I think it's spot-on. I looked at it with differrent levels settings and it's clear that you chose the best mix. Pushing the center slider to the right slightly wasn't bad, but a little too far and the mystique is lost. As Tim said, a great BG could be made from this. I see it in the corner with her looking over the events of the day. Very creative! Is this what you wanted from the shot, or did it become something more interesting in PP?
Kudos.

oops, hadn't read that you did PP to get this. Excellent work.

My avitar is from my bridal pictures and I would love to apply the same effect to my head shot. Please share the post processing on this.

I LOVE high key and I love this. I agree with Tim that it would make a good background in an album , but I think it stands well on its own too. If I was going to nit pick, I find my eye going to the dark patch in her hair parting at the top of the image. Personally I'd tone that down a bit, but otherwise it hits my spot :-) I too would love some details on the P & P
