That's Worthing breeding for you. You would get a polite spider like that from Portsmouth :-) Nice shots Brian.

Thanks for the comments everyone :)
Alby - Thought Portsmouth was going up market nowdays ?
joorb - most bugs won't bite or sting you unless you provoke them, but none of the spiders in the UK are dangerous to humans unless you are hyper- sensitive to their venom- most of them can't even get through human skin.
Brian- not sure if it was curtsy or a bow :)

Lots of posts in Macro refer to 'jumpers'. They are a common type of spider. I only figured it out since I've been frequenting the POTN forums... You have now officially been post-warned. ( As opposed to pre-warned):)

I just love the spider in the headlights look of the first pic. ;) Great shot. Makes you sort of wonder what the heck is going through their little spidery heads.

Thanks for the comments everyone- much appreciated.
pwm2 - I was lucky I have my cameras strategically placed in the kitchen for my garden safaris. I'd guess it was about 60 seconds before the spider really started wandering about on my hand. main problem was getting the camera settings etc with the spider on my finger :)

To use one hand to prepare the camera and get off at least two exposures in that time doesn't sound too easy. Experience counts :)

Brian I love your work..
It was because of you I just purchased my SIG 105mm and I am seriously toying with the idea of the MPE-65..
Thanks for all the great posts.

I’m doing more than toying with the idea. I think it’s going to be my next purchase. The 100 is a nice lens, but just doesn’t get you close enough. Kind of like the 70-300. Always wishing for just a bit more.

Lovely shots of a real cutie Brian - I've always found Jumpers to be friendly and cute myself. I haven't really been out with the camera for a week and a half now, and have been mostly doing bird photography in the past month anyways. Missing my little friends...the sad news is that my parents gardens are absolutely bone dry, and there's not much to shoot. Going to miss the lovely gardens here...another 2 days and I'm out of here.
