ok so I've got the hooked up with Asuka and Graphistudio then I turned to Zookbinders for flush mount only. I spoke to a sales rep yesterday at Zookbinders and he said they are getting rid of the flush mount and they are only doing digital or matted. Now the search is on again for a company with a flush mount option.
What album companies do flush mount albums? Do you use them? What do you like the best?

I don't offer flush mount. Only digital (Asuka) and Matted (Flora Elite). I will look for a provider if I get a client that requests it. So far, all couples with an album in their package chose either one of those two options.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is flush mounted? I see it all the time ...
I know that digital is printed right on the page. What is matted and what is flush mounted? One of them (matted I assume) is the one where there are a bunch of pages of mattes that you slide prints into, right?

from my understanding "flush mount" means that the pages are photographic paper glewed onto cardboard pages and bound into an album with a leather cover. "matted" is considered a traditional album because it has 4x6, 5x7, and 8x10 print glewed on top of the pages with a matboard boarder OR the pages already have the matboard and you slip the print behind them. "coffee table" style is where the company prints the design on magazine style paper. I hope I got all of that right.

I plan on using CornerStone Albums, but my studio sample is from Pictage. Pictage says it is the same quality book as Cornerstone. All my clients so far that have met with me are "aw'ed" by it. I call it my "deal seal" lol.:D

Isn't the Zookbook from Zookbinders a flush mounted album? There is no way they are getting rid of that.

Renaissance offers leather albums by themselves, then you pick out each page according to what size you want the album to be, and then you put the prints in yourself. I've never done it, but that's how my wedding album is. Is that basically the same as flush mount? My album looks great, anyway.

I just got my first flush mount from candid 2000. Called the Tuscany album. LOVE it! the quality is really nice and the price is pretty good. You can get a studio sample for half price too if you just want to see if you like it. the couple I met with tonight absolutely LOVED it! they'd never seen that before.

I'm so glad to hear this. I've signed on with them and with all they have to offer, will probably use them primarily for my albums. They've been great so far.

Are you sure flush mount is prints mounted to card? Queensberry call that a digital album, others call them magazine style. So many names. I do Queensberry digital albums quite often, I like them, but the pages aren't always dead straight especially when the album goes from an area of low humidity to an area of high humidity. Most of my customers get matted albums.

Yes, flush mounts are prints mounted to card. Digital albums have the image printed on the card or page, like the Visionart books for example.

It's just terminology differences I guess, what Queensberry call a digital album are photographic prints bound to card, which others call flush mount.

I think you may have misunderstood. I remember them saying they were discontinuing the matted albums. I will have to go back through emails but I am almost certain that was the case. No chance they are discontinuing the Zook Book. If I find the confirmation I will post it here.

This is what they are discontinuing.
What they called the flush mount was as follows:
"The Flush album had a visible hinge tape within the center of each page and was limited to three panoramas for an additional charge."
They are keeping the Zook Book and have added picture books that are similar to the Zook Book. Looks to be a cross between the Zook book and an Asuka. Should be interesting to see what they look like.

www.Pictage.com has a nice album, but it is pricey. The nice thing about using Pictage though is that all color correction is done by the printer and they have a design team that will put together and album for you. After the album is designed (for free), you can go in and edit the design online and then make it available for your clients to purchase online.
This whole web-based ordering is more expensive, but it is hassle free and saves a LOT of time if you are really busy.

Jostens Publishing Company has a similar type of online creation software for yearbooks. (I'm using it right now in another window, actually.) I suggested to my rep that perhaps they should develop a similar tool for wedding photographers. It's so easy to create yearbooks using the software that creating wedding books this way would be an absolute dream.

Another vote for Albums unlimited. When I got my studio demo (at a greatly reduced price), and I was so impressed I felt compelled to call and let them know just how impressed I was with the product. What's really nice about dealing with them is that when you call, you actually get to talk to someone who knows what they are talking about and really cares about the product. Small company - almost has a feeling of a mom & pop enterprise, except they respond in a very professional and timely fashion to both e-mails and phone calls.
What they call a flush mount is the photo (real archive quality photographic paper) glue/mounted to a board. Pano (spanning two adjacent sides) show a seam that is less than 1mm thick - it's almost invisible. They also have an awesome guarantee on their albums. Well worth checking out.
OK - sounds like I work for them am on the take. Not, so. Just a very happy/satisfied customer.

I'm using pictage - Willowbook right now. I like them a lot. Only thing is I'm not sure I will continue with them because of the crazy monthly fee.

You can use their album design service but then they charge you per image which really makes it pricey! Per image and for the print itself. I do my own design and then order the 20x10 prints and have them mount it. It's way cheaper and I like having the cotrol over the design myeself. I use kubuta autoalbum and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

I've recently taken at look at "I-Mount" wedding albums. they are made by superior and offered at DNL Photo. They have a flush mount look but at a very low cost.

mrs opie ... try the breeze albums at pictobooks. they're much easier to use than any of the imount books out there. the way they're designed insures a flawless application when placing your prints on the page.

I've used AlbumX's Renaissance Ventura self-mount albums (http://www.renaissancealbums.com/for-brides/select-products/?level=3&level_id=17) for my basic packages... They are inexpensive but very nice.
