Opinions?
The little girl is my 5 yr old daughter (Sierra Zoe), and the dog is her 6 mo. old Jack Russell Terrier "Rocco" (AKA: Mr. Jingles).

As a whole, both are quite nice.
My thoughts on them:
1st one:
I like the use of black & white- color would be a bit distracting, I think. I'm not entirely sure if I like the expression on her face or not... in a way it looks like she's on the verge of busting out laughing... on the other, it looks like it could be a forced smile. The patch of light on her right cheek (our left) seems a bit distracting as well. The photo itself looks nicely exposed, good focus, and is pretty even with shadows/highlights
2nd one:
The sepia tone is nicely used here- gives me the feeling that the dog has brown in its fur, which may or may not be relevant in appreciating the photo. I like the expression in his eyes... appears alert, possibly quizical. If his left (our right) hand had been still and therefore focused, it would have been even better. I wonder if cropping it closer from the bottom would make any difference... or cloning the bottom of it to match the rest. It looks like the edge of a rug and hard-wood floor or something, and appears hazy some. Nothing major, just a slight thing I noticed.
Very nice captures, though, I like them

The dog's great. Classic eyes.
The picture of your daughter is ok, but I think it would work better with a different facial expression.

unlike the others i like the expression on here face,
the black and white is a great choice for this picture
i don't like the sepia effect on the dog very much
i think regular black and white would be better

Daugther: Interesting expressing! What is she up to? Maybe one bright reflection in one or each eye would make it more .... "what am I going to do now?
Jack Russel: Nice too. I would crop everything just below his right leg. Gives even more the impression of eye-hight level.

She is squinting from the sun and giving me a fake "I want to go play dad, just take the picture" smile, it was pretty bright that day.
