I had a opportunity to try out a Sigma 100-300 on my Dreble today. At first I was quite excited to just try it but was almost instantly disappointed. I managed 2 photos out of 10. The remaining 8, I got error 99.
I won't be buying that one. :( Mind you, the photos that I did manage came out pretty good.

Evil clown guy, which model lens? There is a 100-300 f/4 EX, and a 100-300 f/4.5-6.7 DL.
Many older Sigmas give that error message. They need to be sent to Sigma and re-chipped for compatibility with digital EOS cameras. Possible you got a clunker.

100-300 f/4.5-6.7 DL. I wouldn't buy a lens that had to be rechipped right off the bat. But then again, if the price was right.

I think this is an old one. If you want to go for the 100-300 range, then go for the 100-300 F4 EX HSM. it highly rated everywhere. A friend of mine ones one! superb lens! The only thing missing is an IS.
well, its more expensive, but who cares about money
best regards
Peter
