Just curious: Why does the album company have to be in LA area?
Most of the leading album companies provide albums nationwide...can we help?

Good point. For instance, I'm signed on with Zookbinders, Bon Match, Asuka, and Pictobooks. None of those companies are in my geographical area. You just need to explore the type of albums you wish to offer. A lot of people on this forum seem to use the Asuka coffee table books.

Because I am new in the business of wedding photography, and since most provider online does not give sample books or materials at lease that you have a web site and other things, I just thought that starting dealing with a local provider was the best way to get to know everything about albums, coffee table books, materials, printing options, etc, etc which I do not know anything about. But I am open to some suggestions, advices and/or directions.
I just want TO DO BUSINESS right away and in the process get a web and register in an association etc, etc.
This weekend I had a meeting with a client who wanted a book and I didn’t have a provider and prices to offer. Fortunately, I close the deal and I am going to officially shoot my first paid wedding, isn’t that great?!!
We just leave the book out of the contract but I promise them to look for one and make them an offer.
Honestly, I do not care if the provider is in China or Iraq (well, I am not quite sure about that) as long it provides me with prices and samples or something to show to customers, in other words, that want to help me start right away.
Like I said I do not know nothing about these books, but some people like my photos and want me to shoot their weddings and I am starting to see the potential of this market.
LIZA: I am gonna check those provider. Thanks a lot.

i highly suggest you do not meet with clients until you have ample samples.... you will look unprofessional and disorganized. its confusing enough for the B&G to shop around for a photographer, but trying to remember who had what wtihout visual aid is horrible.
do some research and decide who you are going to be using as your album provider - they are not all equal, as i am sure you know.

I agree. Slow down and get your business organized before jumping headlong into something as difficult as wedding photography. You also need to set up a proper website for your business before any of these companies will deal with you.

Most of the good album companies will provide studio sample albums at 50% off the usual prices...Suggest you use your first wedding to collect some images and then build a sample album - or 2 samples albums to use to sell the next one....
If you decide on 2 samples...suggest AsukaBook or VisionArt (slimmer, coffee-table style binding) and then one of the better leather-bound albums...Leather Craftsmen, Art Leather Cache, GraphiStudio...so you can show albums of a different look and feel.

White Glove Books is based in California (sorry- can't remember the city). They have an AMAZING product, very high end, and even better customer service! The books are quite a bit more expensive than Asuka, for example, but the pages are much thicker and the book more substantial.

Having people like you around: Priceless!
Is better to pay attention to the fundamental and structure of the business instead of rushing things out. You guys make me think.
A simple advice on time can make a big difference.
Thank you so much!
Fleurina: Thank you for that company.
