Just got the 300D and using the kit lens got these at Mt. Solidad Memorial in San Diego. Keep in mind I am very new to 'real' photography (I have been taking pic's for years with fixed lens digitals) and also very new to photoshop.

The 1st one is shot in basic landscape mode and has been cropped only.

This one was in full auto and cropped only.

I like #2. You might try it sometime using a polarizer, or maybe shoot when the sky thats being reflected is darker (or maybe sunrise/sunset), or maybe... I just don't know when to quit sometimes.

#1 is too big to fit on my 17" monitor. Looks OK I guess.

In #1 the cross is too tightly cropped. The flag is fighting with the fence. Would have been better to take a few steps to the right and make the interaction between flag and cross stronger.
#2 is tilted and does not convey the message of this memorial to me.

Thanks for the replies.
The 1st one had a person sitting in the lower left corner of the shot thus the tight crop.
