So, I was hanging out at Crawfish Fest in Sussex, NJ on 06/03/07, minding my own Étouffée, when above the din of the crowd, rose a cacaphony of brass sounding like...no, it couldn't be...could it? Oh, man....

WAR PIGS!

I had so much fun watching, taking photos and listening to these guys. They are truly unique in sound and attitude. I only wish I caught them in a theatre with lighting. I understand they really kick out the jams. I also found out afterwards that they were recently voted the # 1 Rock band in New Orleans.

Now that takes a lot of brass to pull that off. So, with no more hesitation I bring you...

BONERAMA. As always, C & C appreciated.

#3 & #6 are pretty cool, nice work.

#4 doesnt really work because their face is hidden behind the trombone.

Hey Ski, These are great... Love the brass...
Are these at the old Vernon Valley/Great Gorge location in Sussex County?

PS: I just got back from Southside...haven't seen any results yet... Have to download several hundred pics. and sort...

Later Bro...

Thank you. Shooting outside with a salt and pepper sky at first, then with t-storms building, presented some challenges. I am happy with most of the captures I got.

#4 isn't traditional, my focus was on the mouth of the trombone and sticker, so I wasn't worried about the face. Just trying something different.

Crawfish Fest is held at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Sussex. It was fun shooting brass, something I don't get to do often.

Of course, I'm sure you got some great brass shots with Uncle South last night. Looking forward to seeing them.

Trombone players are difficult to shoot, but you did a great job on these. The music sounds real interesting, where can I hear their stuff?

Thanks for the compliment. I didn't find it difficult to shoot because I was having such a great time. With all the microphones onstage and the variable skies during the set I had to find a lane and bracket to make sure I got a good exposure.

They have released a few albums which you can sample on their web site. http://www.bonerama.net/

i think the reason #4 doesn't work is more because of the microphone. i think the trombone/renew sticker is plenty to serve as the subject of the photo.

bonerama is a fun band, but there are WAY too many bands for bonerama to be #1.

Really like #6, hard to get great pictures of trombones, cover the face too much, very long, and a lot of movement.
